We Can’t Wait for Expo 08!

More than 4,000 people from around the world flocked to Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in September for Malaysia ’s first expo organised by the country’s expats. If you’re visiting this site for the first time, I’m afraid you missed it.

However, keep coming back for regular updates as we’ve already started work on The Expat Expo ’08!

Held on 29/30 September, The Expat Expo ’07: Senses of Malaysia was hailed as a great success by many who attended.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Tourism Y.B. Datuk Donald Lim said: “I congratulate The Expat Magazine under the helm of Mr. Andy Davison for taking this lead in promoting Malaysia and its services, specifically to the expat community. Their efforts of targeting this event to also draw tourist and expats living in and around the region is very much appreciated and encouraged by my ministry.

“Specialised exhibitions such as The Expat Expo, showcases the excellent products and services that we have in Malaysia to meet the expectations of the expat community.”

The Expat Expo ’07: Senses of Malaysia (sponsored by DiGi and CIMB) showcased the various facilities and services available to existing, incoming, and potential members of the expat community. Talks and presentations were held during the two days offering advice on topics as diverse as buying property, the Malaysia My Second Home programme, domestic tourism destinations, buying a car, diving and sailing.

Expats from around the world were there to find out more about what Malaysia has to offer for foreigners. Briton James Humphrey had flown to Malaysia for a two-week holiday in Langkawi when he found about the Expo and decided to fly down to Kuala Lumpur just to visit it.

Fellow Briton Tad Jones flew down with his wife from Beijing as he is coming up for retirement. “We were thinking of retiring to Spain but after seeing the exhibition and learning more about Malaysia we are seriously reconsidering,” he stated.
